Worm Tower (in-garden)
Poultry Patch's tried and true homemade Worm Tower.
The Worm Tower is an in-garden worm farm. Kitchen scraps, paper and worms go in the tower. Worms eat through the scraps and come and go as they please through the holes in the tower to aerate and spread the goodness of the castings and worm tea they make into your garden soil.
Unlike other products on the market, this is a WIDE tower (made from 150mm Holman PVC pipe) that makes conversion of kitchen scraps a faster process with the aid of your worms. This tower is approximately 33cm x 16cm cylinder. Plenty of room for your kitchen scraps, simply dig the tower into your garden bed, add some worms, paper & scraps and leave the worms to do their work. Keep topping up the tower as needed, or leave it for a few months and harvest the beautifully composted soil before starting again.
Items that can be added to the tower includes egg shells (crushed or whole), shredded paper, vegetable peelings, tea bags, newspaper, fruit scraps, coffee grounds, leafy greens, chopped cardboard, used paper towel, toilet rolls.
These are handmade to order. A lid has been included to keep the family pets out as well as provide aeration that doubles as finger holes for easy lid removal.
These towers have been used extensively at Poultry Patch and they are wonderfully successful.
